When it comes to the teeny-tiny trick-or-treaters, the costume you choose can make or break the trick-or-treating experience. A preschooler who is too hot, too cold, uncomfortable, or simply dislikes their costume will be whiney and want to go home (despite the promise of a bucket full of goodies). If you want trick-or-treating to be a fun event for your family, then check out our recommendations for Halloween costumes.
The Best Places to Buy Halloween Costumes for Preschoolers
Old Navy, Children’s Place, and Carters -For many moms, Old Navy is their first stop for Halloween costumes for toddlers and preschoolers. Along with being absolutely adorable, Old Navy Halloween costumes are warm and comfortable to wear. They’re so cozy that you won’t need a coat over top. Better still, these costumes are well made and will last a long time. We recommend playing dress-up using these costumes as an alternative to sweaters on cold winter days -so much more fun!
If you don’t like the selection at Old Navy, head over to Children’s Place or Carters. Their costumes are typically cute animals as well and are similar in terms of comfort and warmth.
Disney Store -Costumes at the Disney Store are pricey, but you’ll get lots of use out of them in terms of ongoing dress-up play throughout the year. If your child is insistent on being a Disney character for Halloween (and a DIY Disney-themed costume is beyond the scope of your craftiness), then head out to the Disney Store! The good news, although buying Halloween costumes from the Disney Store is costly, the quality of the costumes is very good.
Costco -On the racks of Costco, you can find warm and cozy costumes similar to those at Old Navy and Children’s Place. But, you’ll also find a wealth of other costumes such as Marvel superheros, firefighter costumes, and fairy princesses. If your preschooler wants something other than the puffy animal look, then check out the selection at your local Costco (hurry because they sell out fast).
Value Village -Value Village is known for their costume selection at Halloween. The cheap costumes are definitely cheap in terms of quality as well, but they do the trick if you’re looking for something cheap that will make it through one evening. And, of course, you can hit the racks yourself for some cool retro clothes for your own costume.
