You love them and you hate them, but you just can’t live without them! This month we asked you to tell us about products with which you have love/hate relationship . . . and your overwhelming response was baby wipes!
From the day you bring home your newborn baby throughout the toddler years, you can’t escape the need for baby wipes. Many moms admit they develop an addiction to the convenience of baby wipes and they’re still buying them when their kids are well into grade school!
Why the mixed feelings about baby wipes?
Moms love baby wipes because kids are gross and messy . . . and baby wipes can quickly remedy much of the grossness and limit the amount of yuck that is transferred to those having to deal with the mess. Everything can be thrown away and you can carry on with whatever adventure you are enjoying.
Moms hate baby wipes because we cringe a little inside when we have to add more to the overflowing landfills. We don’t like throwing baby wipes away because we want a healthy earth for our babies as they grow. But, sometimes, when we’re out and about, we don’t have access to washcloths, towels, or bathtubs. Or, the mess is so disgusting that we’d rather not have to bring home the towel or washcloth used to clean it up.
Then there is the chemical factor. Most moms would rather not wipe their kids with dampened chemicals, but eco-friendly alternatives cost an arm and leg! (And, as mentioned above, sometimes we’d rather not use a reusable towel or cloth.)
