With warm weather just around the corner, we asked moms what summer toys they simultaneously love and hate.
Top 4 Love/Hate Summer Toys
1. Inflatable Pools: True, these are a must have to help beat the heat on those extra long and hot days. But, inflatable pools (and other inflatable water toys) are a pain to blow up. Once inflated, they very quickly get slimy and dirty, not to mention the fact that they puncture easily (good luck finding the leak). And, of course, there is the danger factor that comes hand in hand with little ones and pooled water!
2. Crazy Sprinklers: Like inflatable pools, crazy sprinklers are great for cooling down on a hot day. Kids tend to love sprinklers that whip around and spray every which way. At the same time, all this crazy whipping and spraying results in water going through open windows, which means an unlucky parent has to try to manoeuvre the sprinkler into a better spot without becoming drenched themselves. Plus these sprinklers typically break after just one or two uses and then mom or dad has to pick up all the pieces (literally and figuratively)!
3. Water Wings: When your little one is in that in-between stage of not quite being an independent swimmer, but also not needing a full life jacket for support, water wings can be the perfect solution. If only they could be designed to fit a bit better! Water wings tend to either chafe and pinch arms due to tightness or fall right off (if your child has super skinny arms). If water wings fit your child perfectly, consider yourself blessed.
4. Goggles: Kids of all ages think it is pretty darn cool to wear a pair of goggles and see what is going on under water at the pool or lake, but has anyone been able to actually get a pair of goggles that fit their child’s little head properly and not result in leaks?
